Superskinny Me

Just finished watching (time-slipped by 15 minutes) Superskinny Me on Channel 4: a documentary/experiment where two journalists attempted to diet & exercise down to a size 00 (UK size 2 - US size 0 is UK size 4) in 5 weeks (from a UK size 12).

One of the journos, Kate, was the same height and about 4lbs heavier than me when she started the experiment. She suffered similar obsessions as I did on my diet (but do remember that when I was dieting, I started more than 4 stones heavier than she did!) with food, calories, self-control, sense of "I'm eating too much" (when eating quite small portions), playing with food and generally going a bit nuts. I never went to a health farm, had colonic irrigations or messed about with laxatives, but I totally empathised with how nuts she was going. Nor did I binge at all as I was far too obsessed with the numbers.

Anyhow, the other journalist, Louise, managed it in 5 weeks. And, to my horror, I thought she looked great on it. The Western World has gone mad, and me with it. Having watched it, all I can think is that I could lose a few more pounds. Not enough fuss was made about how hard it was or how bad it was for those women's bodies and minds.

Maybe you thought she looked great because of the ten pounds that the camera adds?

I think you may well have a point there. How does it happen, though. Methinks research will need to be done *googlage*
