Barbecue!

Barbecue tomorrow. People coming. Woo!

June 3, 2007

Sunday Sunday

Barbecue happened. But as is all too common over the last few months, I wasn't really engaged with it as I was hanging on my Blackberry's every buzz and jingle. Everyone else was a bit hung over, I was just tired from having been dealing with work stuff until 4am.   528322443_57c3ce987c.jpg

Bleh

I was given today and tomorrow off from work (the last two weeks were... oh anyway). The total and utter bastard of it is that I woke up at 06:15 today (I was planning on something well after 09:00) to throw up. Quite a bit.

I'd had rather too much double cream on some strawberries last night and I think my constitution can't deal with that kind of thing any more. When heaving in the morning, I expect there to be nothing to come up, but (oh boy!) there was plenty of last night's dinner there. So, despite it being probably self-inflicted, I'm feeling rather sorry for myself and that it's all so unfair.

Still bleh

Fell asleep for a couple of hours and was sick again (I'd been drinking water in between, that's all) then slept for another couple of hours after that. This is so unfair.

More fun with cameras

One of the rose bushes has been rather enthusiastic and over 100 of the rose heads needed pruning at the same time this weekend. I ended up with a huge pile of heads, looking very sad on the ground.

Plus, I do love this little Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II lens; it's a demon in low light as proven by the pink roses in that Flickr set that I took when it was beyond sunset.

Fun with macro

I accidentally bought some Kenko extension tubes today... to make the 50mm EF II f1.8 lens into something of a macro. They're pretty tricky to use, especially without a tripod...

Look what I found...

...with his little nose pressed up against the dining room window.

I've seen him just appear out of nowhere, outside my study (soon to be the new bathroom) window before. Scraggy looking thing, but with a collar and bell and agile as you like. He comes and peers into windows and as soon as he sees movement, he's off like a shot. I was lucky to be able to reach for my camera and catch him before he scampered away. Shame it had the little lens on it, but good for the low light conditions. Swings and roundabouts really. The flash would have scared him off after the first exposure (and not been all that great for the lighting of the shots anyway).

Wah!

So I'm in a fabulous hotel, in fabulous grounds and go for a nice little walkies with my camera...

...and the battery runs out after 1 shot.

...and I don't have a charger with me.

Wah!

I need to get a spare.

Still. My new battery arrived today. Now all I have to do is remember to charge the bloody thing. (*trundles off to plug it in somewhere*)
Oh and posting from Flickr appears to work too. Which is nice.

I've dug out a load of my old photos that I have in digital format, some originally digital, some very badly scanned from old prints, and uploaded them to Flickr. Mostly because I don't want to lose them and partly because there are some nice ones in there. The state of the scanned ones really is a shame. There were some lovely ones, but I can't get them scanned nicely and at a decent resolution. They're long beyond that now. Ah well.
