Delicatessen

2188149768_8b889e6f27_m.jpgThere is an Italian delicatessen just down the road from my house. I went in there for the first time earlier in the week and I wish I'd done it sooner. The place is a treasure trove of delicacies; cakes, pastries, chocolates, breads, a small selection of salad vegetables, a huge selection of cured and cooked meats, cheeses, pasta, about 50 different olive oils, vinegars, preserved vegetables and fruits, speciality teas... there is also a cafe inside where you can partake of the produce and even at midday on a Saturday, it was starting to fill up quite a bit. The owner was quite happy for me to take pictures when I asked him, so that was nice too.

I bought some Italian bread from there, for lunch today with my best friend. The wild boar pate, herb roasted ham, manchego and cherry tomatoes that went with it were gorgeous. I'm thinking I really should have got some cakes as well, but it isn't as if the place is going to disappear overnight so there's plenty of time (i.e. tomorrow :o)).
