Finally looks like I'm learning a bit about my camera. As recommended, I've been setting the white balance before taking non-spontaneous shots. The results have been pretty good so far and things like this rose actually look like the right colour. I'm pleased. Now to find more excuses to take the camera walkies...
Days and weekends are filling up quite nicely. And even if some of it is huge work project related, it's good. I'm loving it! I'll even get to take the car out soon for the first time since New Year's Day :o)
If you're anywhere near a participating Ben and Jerry's on Tuesday (today/tomorrow, depending on how you look at it)... FREE ICE-CREAM!
Oh boy it's lovely out there today. I've done a bit of gardening, hacked back a little of the weeds, but not all of it yet because the padlock on the shed has seized up and I can't get at the gardening tools. More importantly, I need the bug killer because my dog rose is infested with green flies.
Still, the weather is so nice that I have a summer dress on and I'm in the garden waiting for N to come for tea and cake. Which is just lovely. I like my garden.
Lots of stuff going on.
Lowlight:- the recycling guys leaving all of my recycling this week. I have no idea why. There was quite a bit of it this time as I'd got rid of 12 cans of Diet Coke that were out of date stamp. Getting a bit cross with the collections not happening now.
Highlight:- loads of stuff. People. Work. Social. It's alllll going on.
This weekend, I'd like to maybe see if the A1 thing on Regent Street is less of a mash than the F1 thing was a few years back. Maybe take some pictures.
Cirque du Soleil's Delirium is on at the O2 at the moment. So I got some tickets. I was expecting something really quite Dance and Energy, but it was more Prog Rock and Baron Munchausen and really quite amazing. There two screens, one either side of the stage and a translucent curtain across the stage much of the time, which had images, frames and effects projected onto it which added to the whole effect in some really cool ways.
The O2 is a pretty nice venue. I don't usually like big venues, but it's good. The facilities are really good, lots of bars and restaurants around the edges. Rather than just greasy hot-dog and burger catering, you can get a whole range of food from pizza, to steak, to sushi and bento, and chinese. So we had pizza before the entertainment and a little drinkie afterwards. All good stuff. And there are even plentiful loos (though the venue was only allowed to be 1/2 full for Delirium, so it might be different in a different configuration). Very good night out. Oh yes.
And the greenness isn't great at the moment. It comes from a couple of things; not drinking carbonated soft drinks any more and being off whack in my daily routine.
Conversely, tomorrow we're going to see Cirque du Soleil's Delirium at the O2. I'm really excited about it and hope that the seats are OK. I had a few problems booking tickets; Friday was sold out really quickly and the floor area tickets were all gone by the time I managed to book any tickets. They seem to be pretty closeish to the stage... well, for such a massive venue anyway. Need to make sure I get some good sleep tonight so I'm not as shattered as I was today after very little sleep and an early meeting (got to the office at 07:45 to pick up bits of paper before heading down the road a bit to the meeting). Tired but happy and excited about tomorrow; it's gonna be good!
(Apart from where the huge file transfer finished..) can you tell when the power went out? I can't _wait_ for our leased line to go in and the migration to be done. Only 28 days until the latter and a bit longer for the former. Then it will be all mine! And we will have far less reliance on unreliable third parties.
That was a nice present for me this morning when I came into the office all shiny and happy after a fabulous night last night. Good pizza, followed by good musical theatre (Avenue Q again) and fantastic company. Mmm-mmm! And it's almost the weekend too :o)
Starting the week with an appraisal that went quite nicely, I think, and then dinner at Steph's... very nice. Then on Thursday there's Avenue Q and Friday is Jon's leaving do. And I noticed this morning that TiVo has started picking up Studio 60 from the start, so I think I might just watch it this time (having missed the first two episodes last time, I decided not to watch it).
Feeling a touch delicate this morning, due to the lateness of the evening (how was it suddenly 01:50?) but tea fixes everything!
I'm thinking I need to back to Tesco Metro and buy more. It tastes a bit different. Nice, but different. I like it. Just been scoffing some, on a toasted onion bagel now I'm back from Tricia's birthday thing.
I ruled on the dance machine, despite Euromix 2 being crippled and there being a confusing new machine with diagonal and middle steps instead of just up, down left and right. Tricky. Very very tricky.
Yay! I've got tivoweb back in place and fully loaded with logos. God, that feels better.
Good and bad:-
Been eating out a lot (or at least not eating in) the last week or so, so there's been very little shopping going on so I guess that helps the drop in consumption of bags etc., in addition to making the effort to carry a shopping bag around with me just in case.
