Umm.

Of course I was totally stupid when booking the holiday and forgot about this wedding I'm supposed to be going to on the Saturday, in Bath. The flight out to Milan is midday on Sunday. Doh! Still, earlyish train then bus will get me to LHR in time on Sunday morning so I can stay for the reception shindig. Yay.

Holiday!

Yay! I've got holiday booked! Going to Milano, Italia per una settimana. Hm. My Italian is crushingly rusty and given that I studied it for only 3 months of 1/2 an hour a week in the VIth form (*mumble* years ago), I'm stunned that I know any Italian at all. With a course that short, you just don't get around to learning the structure and how verbs work or anything. Sucky. But I guess being able to say "can I leave my bags here this afternoon" might come in handy when checking out of the hotel and waiting for the flight back. Maybe. Um. Knowing me, I'll probably end up slipping Latin words in, given that I did that for GCSE and it is more ingrained into my brain.

Getting there

Fiddled about with the stylesheet and layout and I'm a little happier now. Obviously the logo needs re-doing and that means re-doing the special ones like Easter, Christmas, Paddy's Day etc. all with a white background. Something to keep me out of trouble for an hour or so with Photoshop Elements, methinks.

...or cheat and fiddle the left bar background to match. That'll do for now.

And I managed to shoehorn the thumbnails to my photos in there too, which is nice.

So I finally gave in

And I installed Moveable Type. It really does need to have the templates fiddled with. I don't like the calendar; it is too wide. The colour scheme is, um, minimalist. The Search box is too deep and the layout just isn't how I want it. Still, I guess it gives me something to fiddle with when I get bored.

Not sure about whether I'll attempt to import the old stuff to Moveable Type. Given that I wrote them in plain HTML in a non-standard way I think it could possibly be something of a mammoth task.

In fact I think, for now, I'll drop the Search box. It's just in the way at the moment and there's naff all content for it to search, so.
