Life Goes OnMuch as it saddens me to say so, I no longer use a Psion PDA. I have defected to a PalmOS machine in the form of a Sony Clié PEG-T625C. However, I will keep these pages and downloads available for the foreseeable. Information and downloads for the Clié will be made available in time. The Revo has now been road-tested! - UPDATE!I bought it about a week before heading off to the US for a training course for three weeks. I was going to bite the bullet and leave the laptop behind, in favour of this curvy, sleek, sexy-looking new Psion. Armed with the Revo and Psion's 56k IR travel modem...I hit the US. And believe me, the IR travel modem is one sexy piece of kit, shame that it isn't finished in the same way as the Revo though. Having negotiated a temporary dial-up account for the time I would be out there, I dialled in and all was well. For 14 days the Revo stood up to approximately 30 mins online every day. 14 days of worry-free, battery-operated, light-weight net access. Both email and web browsing were excellent (bar not being able to use https web pages). Sunday, 14th May - approx. 5pm (EST)...I returned to my hotel room, where I'd left the Revo charging away for about three hours. Time to check my mail again... but ohno, the Revo thought otherwise. I closed the case and opened it again: no power. Checked the power LED, as it was still plugged in to the charger; it was on. No power. I hit escape. No power. I fiddled with the contrast settings. No power. Disconnected the charger. No power. Panic. I decided this was maybe the time to try a soft reset. No response. Tried again. Nothing. Third time - ah yes, the Psion banner and triple-beep! Life! But ohso short-lived as it powered off again almost instantly. After three or four more soft resets...I decided to resort to the dreaded hard reset. 10 tries later and still nothing. The Revo was now pronounced dead and I had to resort to Web TV for the remaining week (which must be the most frustrating and restrictive way I've ever had to access the web... and I was accessing the web back when it was just command line stuff!) After a little research on some web pages, it appears that I may be subject to a problem with the internal battery connection. So, the poor little Revo is going to have to take a trip to the Psion repair centre. It is a real shame that the whole episode happened, because I was really beginning to think that I'd never have to take my nasty, heavy-old laptop on travel with me ever again, but I don't know that I can trust the Revo to stand up to the usage. We'll see... Return of the Psion - The Revo Strikes Back! It's back! And it's badder than ever......errr, so to speak. Well, I sent it off to the repair centre, eventually, and within a week I had it back again. It works! It has new dry cells in it and they're ones that work this time. The service centre was great and the guys there were quite polite and good at telling me how long things were going to take. Well done guys! Certainly the turnaround time since the old days of the Series 3a being repaired has improved immensely. Now to fill up this little Psion's memory with stuff again... hi ho, hi ho... NB: if I need it repairing again, now that it is out of warranty, I'll be using Trevor Pinnock's Pinnock Organiser Services as he repaired my original Series 3a many years ago and did a swift and neat job of it.
